Ford knew what it was doing when it brought back the 5.0 moniker on the 2011 Mustang. They created a groundswell of enthusiasm for the new engine, and it didn’t take long for Ford fans to start stuffing the 5.0 into the original 5.0, the Fox-body Mustang. Kurgan Motorsports was among the first shops to complete this swap, taking the Coyote 5.0 and swapping it into a clean red ’93 Mustang LX.
Now that car has shown up for auction on eBay, and it could be yours…for the right price.
We were the first media outlet to bring you the news that Kurgan had swapped a new Coyote 5.0 engine into a Fox-body Mustang, and we were on hand when they performed the 5.0 swap on another Fox-body from start-to-finish in just under five hours. The red donor car was originally a 4-cylinder LX, and the car was completely restored, top-to-bottom, before the Coyote was hoisted in. That included new seals, paint, 2003 Cobra black leather power seats, door handles, windshield, and a whole new fuel system.
Then of course there is the Coyote 5.0 engine itself, which is hooked up to a T-45 5-speed transmission and has custom Kook SS headers and a Bassani SS cat-back. Kurgan also managed to maintain both the air conditioning and power steering, making this Mustang damn near the perfect cruiser or cross-country tour car. This Mustang has set the bar for all other Fox-body/5.0 swaps, and now here is your chance to own it.
