The limited run of the Ford GT was as much a celebration of Ford’s 100^th anniversary as it was a showcase of the kind of car Ford was capable of building. While GM and Chrysler had the Corvette and Viper respectively, Ford had nothing in their class until the GT came around. It has been four years since production of this fantastic supercar ceased, but people are still finding ways of modifying these marvelous machines.

Take this eBay auction we found for a 2005 Ford GT. Not only is it equipped with twin turbochargers pumping out up to 1,000 horsepower, but it has also been wrapped in a carbon fiber “skin.” Pretty neat, right?

So how exactly does one “wrap” a car in carbon fiber? A product out there called “Skinz Wrap” is essentially a vinyl wrap that goes around the car for a variety of purposes. Many of these wraps carry advertising, custom graphics, slogans or racing stripes without the need for expensive paint jobs. This particular Ford GT has a carbon fiber wrap that protects the paint of the car, while giving it a mean-looking flat-black look (though the car was originally red). Coupled with the black wheels and interior, this is one bad ass looking Ford GT with the power to back up those looks.

In place of the factory supercharger, which put out 550 horsepower, two ball-bearing turbochargers have been fitted to this car. On low boost, the eBay ad claims the car makes 766 horsepower at the wheels. On higher boost levels, horsepower can touch 1,000 ponies. Of course, turbos alone won’t product that kind of power, so a custom billet intake, upgraded fuel system, and other engine upgrades are part of the package.

You get all of this for $179,000, which is quite the bargain when you consider the factory car cost $150,000 brand new. This model has just 7,000 miles on it (it is nice to see people enjoying their super cars though). We like it, but what do you think?
