For the 1994 model year, Ford made a huge transition from the then ten-year old Fox-body Mustang, moving on to the SN-95 platform which offered a lot in the way of upgrades over the Fox-body. It also gave aftermarket companies like Saleen a new platform to play with, and they wasted no time in offering a host of upgrades, performance parts, and fully-equipped vehicles like the S-351 SR Mustang for sale.
And it is one of those S-351 SR Mustangs that has shown up on eBay, from the 1995 vintage. With an asking price of $57,900 it isn’t cheap…but in the grand scheme of things, it may be a bargain. Read on to find out.
In 1995, Saleen offered four levels of upgrades for the new SN-95 Mustangs, including a supercharged V6, upgrades to the stock 302 motor, and a complete engine swap, removing the 302 and dropping in a beefed-up 351 powerplant. You could even go that extra step and get a supercharged SR package, which offered up to 480 horsepower on tap, in addition to a host of driveline and suspension upgrades.
This particular S-351 Mustang though, which is the only one ever produced in Canary Yellow, has a host of other upgrades in addition to what Saleen did. This includes a new camshaft, all-new internals (punched out to 408 cubic-inches) and a more aggressive fuel system. Now, with a $57,900 asking price, how could this be considered a bargain? Well brand new, the Saleen S-351 SR cost $49,999 before any options were checked off.
Then there are all the other modifications which give this particular Mustang a total of 624 horsepower, which would easily add another $10,000 to the bottom line. And being a Saleen, this is both a well-known, and highly collectible Mustang. A veritable bargain if you’ve got the cash, and we wouldn’t mind jumping on this deal ourselves…if they just took off a couple of zeroes…
