This ’Stang is featured as the event’s main attraction for good reason. According to the original Mecum Auctions listing, it has been verified as one of two models produced thanks to the 1968 SAAC Registry.
It is also one of 15 1968 Shelby GT350s finished in its optional exterior finish and options. Moreover, the Shelby is one of 404 GT350 convertibles produced in 1968. According to Mecum it was delivered on April 23, 1968 to the Northwestern Motor Car Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as a company car for A.O. Smith Corporation.
Additional intel on the Shelby reveals its original body panels, floors, and complete interior are in tact. Amenities include a power-operated white convertible top, a package for additional cooling, power steering, and power disc brakes. The interior features also the highly desirable tilt-away steering column, AM radio, and an interior decor group. Wrapping up the package is a full set of Shelby 10-spoke wheels centered between Goodyear large-letter radial tires.
