Deatschwerks Developing EcoBoost Injectors In Time For 2015 Mustang

Deatschwerks is finalizing development of their GDI injectors for Ford EcoBoost engines. They’re also working on GDI Injectors for other platforms.

EcoBoost is more than just a buzzword, or marketing campaign by Ford. It’s the way forward in a wold where consumers want (and the government demands) increasingly better fuel economy. Consumers also want to maintain or even improve their vehicle’s performance, and as such EcoBoost technology is available in a variety of vehicles ranging from pickup trucks to performance oriented luxury sedans, and hot hatches.

Many talented tuners have already come up with tuning solutions, and the aftermarket has also been releasing parts for EcoBoost powered cars and trucks. The limiting factor up until now has been getting more fuel to the engine. Increasing boost and playing with fuel, timing, and other data within the computer can net more power, but eventually the incoming air charge exceeds the amount of available fuel. There hasn’t been a solution to this issue until now, and it comes from Deatschwerks.

Using their experience with fuel injectors and their own patent-pending process that was developed in-house, Deatschwerks is currently in the final stages of development for an injector solution specific to the Ford EcoBoost engines. In fact, these injectors are based on the Bosch HDEV-5 platform, the same platform used for the injectors in both V6 and four-cylinder EcoBoost engines.

Just like their standard SFI injector cousins from Deatschwerks their new EcoBoost GDI injectors receive a multi-point dynamic flow balancing. This level of detail in the development of the injectors ensures consistent fueling across the entire range of pulse-widths.

The new Deatschwerks high-flow GDI injectors for EcoBoost engines will flow 25-percent more fuel than the stock units. They also retain the stock fuel injector spray pattern maximizing their compatibility with the OE piston design and injection strategies. Basing them off the same HDEV-5 platform also means these injectors will be a drop-in direct fit replacement, requiring no modifications to install them.

With an EcoBoost engine on board for the 2015 Mustang lineup, we’re sure that these new injectors will be making their way into plenty of EcoBoost Mustangs in the very near future. Deatschwerks plans to have their Ford GDI EcoBoost injectors available later this year in time for the 2015 Mustang to go on sale.
