Owning a car is an expensive proposition, whether the car in question cost $1,000 or $100,000. Besides buying the car, you have to purchase fuel, insurance, have a place to park it, work on it, so on and so forth. But there is a cheaper way to get into the car habit, and while it may not be as impressive as a full-size car, it sure is cheaper.
Mustang Evolution came across the Diecast Auto Blog, a website dedicated to diecast cars of all kinds. There they came across a 1:24th scale Mustang made up like Frankenstein’s Mustang from the recent Death Race movie.
Is this the start of a whole new hobby? Not exactly. Modifying diecast cars has been around as long as toy cars have been around, and it is a much cheaper hobby than owning the real deal. Obviously you can’t drive your diecast car around…but you can work an incredible amount of detail into a very small space. Even the tiny interior has a rollcage, dashboard, and instrumentation crafted into it!
While not an exactly copy of Frank’s Death Race Mustang, this Grabber Blue beast has all sorts of little details that we like, such as the butterflies in the hood scoop. Other diecast Mustangs on the blog include the green drift Mustang from Tokyo drift, a ‘68 Shelby GT500KR, and a ‘65 Cobra. With diecast cars so cheap, and gas prices so high, maybe getting into the diecast hobby isn’t such a bad idea?
