Brian Mitchell’s NMRA EFI Renegade 91 Mustang, driven by Dan Rawls, was just sold to Paul Johnson of Richmond Virginia for the east coast X275 wars. The three time championship winning ride features a 25.5 chassis and will be sporting a brand new 380ci small block Chevy engine built by CDR Performance LLC out of Indianapolis, Indiana. An 85mm turbo will provide the boost to keep up with big dogs. The team will consist of suspension tuner Chris Acors, lead mechanic David Epperson, and Wild Bill Devine tuning the Accel Gen 7. Paul and his wife, Sherry a.k.a. the C.E.O., will be handling the driving. Sherry has been racing her 2008 Mustang and is ready to go extremely fast in the Wizard. Building cars and going to the races has become a way for the family to get together.

The Johnson family suffered a tragedy when there young son Logan passed away. Logan really liked fast cars and four wheelers. The Family decided to build a car in his honor and as a way for everyone to spend time together. His boys are very competitive, just like Paul, and get right in there to work on the car. This is how Logan Motorsports was formed. They built a 1963 Chevy II and made only 5 passes on it when they experienced severe engine problems at the Pinks race at Virginia Motorsports Park. Paul called a new engine builder at that point and had him start on a new engine. This is when he saw the Wizard for sale and thought it would make a great X275 car to put the new CDR engine in. He sold the Nova and went right out and picked up the wizard.

They are shooting for February to have the car all done and ready for testing. The plan is to run the John Sear’s X275 class at Virginia Motorsports Park and Maryland International Raceway in 2011. Paul said “John Sears is the best thing to happen to little guys in drag racin
