Though the last Fox-body Mustang was built almost 20 years ago, it is experiencing a resurgence in popularity as people re-discover this excellent muscle cars. The nostalgia for the 5.0 was especially resurgent when Ford brought back the 5.0 liter engine, rekindling all sorts of memories among the middle-aged.
Already a popular swap is putting the new Coyote 5.0 into older Fox body Mustangs. Hoping to ride that wave is Creations ‘N’ Chrome, who is previewing a SEMA-bound Fox-Coyote with a goal of 2,400 pounds and 700 horsepower.
One thing that made Fox-body Mustang so popular were their lightweight and relatively simple engines. Ford has made swapping the Coyote 5.0 into a Fox Mustang a very easy process with its engine harness, so much so that Kurgan Motorsports was able to do the swap in a single day.
Chrome ‘N’ Creations has a different plan though, and a much more lenient schedule. The 2012 SEMA show is still nine months away, so we’re expecting a fully decked-out show car (it’s a ‘91 notchback) with a hella-nice paint job, Under the hood will be a supercharged Coyote 5.0 engine, and the race-prepped chassis has a goal weight of around 2,400 pounds. That would mean each horsepower is only responsible for about three pounds.
Translation; one ridiculously fast Fox-body Mustang.
