In the world of radial tire racing there are all sorts of rules, and some of those favor running fewer cylinders and/or fewer cubic inches by giving weight breaks. We suspect this car was built for such weight breaks, and those likely paid off since its best quarter-mile ET has been a 7.99 at 183 MPH according to the seller.
The Johnny Laws Doughnuts 1993 LX hatchback, which is currently up for sale on Craigslist is an interesting piece to say the least. The hatchback features a four-cylinder engine based around an Esslinger tall deck billet aluminum block. Displacement has been increased from 2.3 to 3.9 liters. Force feeding that four-banger is a ProCharger blower (although the model isn’t listed) along with three stages of giggle gas.
A TCI six-speed auto provides the gear changes and 5.13 gears translate the driveshaft’s twist into forward motion. The seller claims the car is street legal and that the engine is fresh and that the transmission and rearend are new this year.
What really strikes us about this Mustang is the look. Covered in brown paint that looks to have been brushed on. We’re not sure what they were going for unless it was just that they wanted to invoke thoughts of chocolate doughnuts. The front fenders have had numerous holes punched in them, and the car is sporting a one-piece front bumper. Instead of headlights there are two large fog lights mounted on the wiper cowl.
Asking price for this radial machine is $40,000 according to the ad or trade for a clean fast motorcycle. Happy racing.
