The search is on for a classic 1966 Ford Mustang that was stolen from a family shop in Old Fort, North Carolina, in the early morning hours. Neighbors heard commotion around 4 a.m. at Twisted Rod Customz and called the owner, Fred Sult, to let them know something was wrong.
The car in question was stored inside of a locked garage, not outside and easier to steal. According to WLOS news, the door was rammed hard enough for the culprits to get in, nab the $25,000 car, and take off with it. The thieves were heard but not seen, no description is available of the robbers or the vehicle used to ram the door. Only thing known is that red paint was found on top of the door.
Fred has owned this family business for about 17 years, and like most family owned operations, it is more than just a shop, but a passion and hobby. Having something valuable taken is always a low blow, but the real heartbreak comes from a five-year-old boy that the car was promised to.
Fred had planned to pass the car down through generations, and this classic Ford Mustang was going to be passed down to his grandson. “It was my grandson’s car, and I’ve owned it for 12 years,” Sult said. “It’s very, very upsetting, and he doesn’t know it’s gone yet.”
