The team at CJ Pony Parts, one of the most well known names in the Ford Mustang enthusiast community, has laid out its plans for a pair of high-profile new builds utilizing matching “Gotta Have It Green” 2013 Ford Mustang GT’s that readers will be able to engage in and follow along with as they arrive and undergo their respective transformations.
Known as Gotta Have It Street and Gotta Have It Race, the two Mustangs will serve two very different roles for CJ Pony Parts. The Street version has been optioned with a plethora of creature comfort and entertainment amenities, including an automatic transmission, an LCD Message Center, SIRIUS satellite radio, leather seats and leather wrapped steering wheel, a Shaker sound system, heated seats and mirror, a glass roof, and much more.
Gotta Have It Race, meanwhile, will come as a base GT Coupe with a manual transmission, 300A equipment package, Recaro Cloth Sport Seats, and a rear spoiler delete. The goal with this car is to construct the quickest and fastest naturally-aspirated 5.0L Mustang in the world.
Both cars, on order from Hoffman Ford in Harrisburg, Pa., are expected to arrive in the coming days and both will head straight to the upcoming NMRA Ford Nationals at the Maryland International Raceway, May 4-6, where they’ll compete in the Super Stang category. The goal for Gotta Have It Race is to break the track’s stock engine record, which currently stands in the neighborhood of 11.3-seconds at 120-122 miles per hour. From there, the unmistakably green Mustang will head to the dyno and gradually begin its ascent in performance potential, which will no doubt reach the 10’s, the 9’s, and beyond as the project progresses.
