Carscoop Renders The 2015 Mustang: Did They Nail It?

It has come to light in recent weeks that Ford is now using focus groups to decide on the final design of the 2015 Mustang. Several forum posts appeared laying out the details of the 2015 Mustang from what engines it will have to the exterior looks, even down to details like the tail lights. These posts have since disappeared, but that hasn’t stopped Internet writers and artists from trying to pin down the design of the 2015 Ford Mustang.

Carscoop recently rendered what they say is, to the best of their knowledge, the look of the 2015 Mustang. Using a combination of those focus group forum posts and unnamed sources inside Ford, they claim this is the closest anyone has come to rendering the next-gen Mustang. Are they full of it, or are they closer than any of us want to admit?

Reports in the past year have likened the next-gen Mustang’s looks to the Ford Evos concept, as well as the new 2013 Ford Fusion. You can clearly see the influence in Carscoop’s rendering, from the foglights to the grille to the whole front fascia, that Ford is going all-in with this new look…at least on the front end.

The middle of Carscoop’s rendering is quite chunky, though the back end seems to end abruptly, and is kind of smushed in. It’s not really a pretty looking car from the middle back if we’re going to be honest. There are some important details that Carscoop includes though, like the mandatory European foglight nestled between the exhaust tips and the three-dimensional tail lamps. Carscoop also claims to have inside knowledge that the 2015 Mustang’s dashboard will be brushed aluminum. Sounds fancy.

Ford is definitely trying to appeal to the Europeans with the next Mustang…but if Carscoop is right, and this is close to the look of the new design, Ford may have gone too far. What do you think of this rendered Mustang?
