Tonight on the Discovery Channel, NASCAR drivers Kurt Busch and Joey Logano will take their rivalry to a new venue — Charlotte Motor Speedway’s new road course. The duo will race in two custom built rides with Kurt piloting a 1972 Pantera built by Gas Monkey Garage and Joey driving a Ford Gen 3 Type 65 Coupe-R built by Factory Five Racing.
If you recall, the two drivers had a heated confrontation back in March when Joey’s car made contact with Kurt’s. The two drivers exchanged words and nearly came to blows over the incident, but things seemed to have cooled now.
“I look at Kyle as one of the drivers I had the best relationship with. I am sure we will get back to that point,” Joey said shortly after the incident. “Obviously it will take a little time, that is just part of it. We have never had an issue. It wasn’t anything intentional. We will be able to push through this.”
A little friendly TV competition should help. Both drivers will drive vehicles powered by Ford Performance Parts’ vaunted Aluminator XS 5.2-liter crate engine, which is rated at 580 horsepower in naturally aspirated form. Both engines are supported by the FPP Controls Pack PCMs and harnesses, as well as Cobra Jet intakes and twin 65mm throttle bodies.
You can check out this epic battle on Fast ’N Loud tonight at 9 p.m. on Discovery Channel.
