Bilstein has been associated with high-performance suspension designs for decades, insuring cars not only handle great, but also provide drivers with a comfortable ride. But the leading suspension designer isn’t just about their products. They’re also about reducing their global environmental imprint. That’s why Bilstein was recently awarded the first Partslife Environmental Award in the automotive aftermarket category. Congratulations goes out to Bilstein for the well-deserved award.
Originated in Germany, Bilstein is one of the industry’s leading designers and manufacturers of suspension components. Whether you’re looking for OEM replacement parts or the very best suspension components for your drag, dirt track or street rod project, Bilstein has a number of options to suit your needs.
In order to create all of their products, Bilstein uses a lot of energy, which has an impact on the environment and available resources. In order to reduce their global imprint, Bilstein has implemented a unique heating system at their Mandern, Germany production site, which uses waste products, like manure, corn and grass silage from a nearby farm and turns it into usable heat energy for one of the company’s paint shops. This innovative heating system has allowed the company to reduce the energy costs of that paint shop by over 50 percent.
In seeing this initiative, the jurors for the Partslife Environmental Award, made up of industry representatives and experts, decided to offer the coveted award for the first time in the automotive aftermarket category. Partslife, a German environmental management system for the independent automotive parts industry recognizes a company making strides to protect the environment from their manufacturing processes with innovative ideas each year with the award.
German musician Peter Maffay presented Bilstein with the award to Head of Sales, Christian Renfordt recently in a ceremony, where the company also received a monetary prize. Bilstein turned around and donated the money to the Peter Maffay Foundation, an organization that helps children that have been traumatized by illness, violence or disabilities.
Once again, we congratulate Bilstein on a well-deserved award. The suspension company is definitely a leader not only in designing and manufacturing suspension components, but also in environmental awareness.
