Most folks don’t need too many reasons for wanting to own a classic Mustang like this 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback, but being Sammy Hagar’s personal Mustang doesn’t hurt either. This one-of-a-kind Shelby Mustang will be auctioned off at the 2017 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, and it’s one Mustang you don’t want to miss.
According to the original ad, “This is Sammy Hagar’s 1967 Shelby GT500 that he owned from 1989 to 2006. Listed in the Shelby Registry, this car was a personal project of Sammy’s and was rebuilt in 1992-93,” Powered by a 427 cubic-inch “tunnel-port” V8, this Shelby features a four-speed manual transmission and is paired to a Detroit Locker differential. The whole package is finished in a unique color called Guards Red, and is accented with a pair of Le Mans inspired black stripes.
Aside from the fact that this Shelby was owned by Sammy Hagar, a 1967 GT500 is an exceptionally rare horse on its own. We'd venture to say this Shelby Mustang will have no problem fetching a six-figure price tag if you can pony-up the cash.
“The car was originally ordered with a standard non-louver hood, no air conditioning, an automatic and in Nightmist Blue,” the ad details. “The Red Rocker “Can’t Drive 55,” so it was modified with plenty of Ford speed parts. Included in this auction is a display of Sammy’s personal guitar and pick, and an autographed display bottle of Cabo Wabo Sammy used to celebrate when he sold this car in 2006. “To Sammy, Thanks. Your friend, Carroll Shelby” is proudly shown on the dash.”
