Pretty much every car is a blank canvas upon which creative types can display their abilities, whether it be welding, painting, or wacky body kits. The car hobby is big enough for all types, even those with questionable types. And while we’ve seen some really wacky cars before, we’ve never seen an automobile that better combines the aspects of automobiles from three different continents than this Shelby 7-Series Skyline GT-R.
Carscoop came across this odd contraption, whose owner combined the front end of a Shelby Mustang with the rear end of a Nissan Skyline of the body of a E23 BMW 7-Series. Confused yet? Yeah…
The Shelby Mustang, E23 (first generation) BMW 728 Series, and Nissan Skyline GT-R are all very awesome cars in their own right, with legions of devoted followers and fanboys. So we guess it isn’t all that surprising that someone would combine the best of America, Germany, and Japan into a single car…and it doesn’t look that awful, all things considered.
The body is a 1985 BMW 7-Series, one of the top-of-the-line automobiles from the Bavarian automaker. With an inline-six cylinder engine making 185 horsepower, it wasn’t exactly the fastest car from the factory, but respectable enough for the mid-80’s. Then the owner went ahead and added the front fascia and hood scoop from a Shelby Mustang, which we think actually went very well with the Bimmer’s body lines. But the Nissan rear end is a whole different story, and we could probably do without those huge, awkward taillights. We probably we have used a different Nissan, say a 200sx (Silvia) but hey, it isn’t our car, and at least the owner has a totally unique ride. Right?
