Ford has unveiled what is, in all likelihood, the last major update for the Ford Mustang before the new generation hits the stage in 2014 as a 2015 model. That means we have at least two years before we get to put our peepers on the all-new 2015 Mustang, which promises to be a revolutionary step into the future. It has already been suggested by Ford that the next Mustang will look a lot like the Evos concept from last fall.
That has designers and renderers scrambling to come up with a vision of the next-gen Mustang that maintains the muscle of the current vehicle. AutoGuide’s scribes have tried their hand and the results are, shall we say, mixed?
To be brutally honest, it looks as though the Evos concept rear-ended a 2010+ Mustang, and the result is the rendering you see before you. Hunchbacked and with a downward-facing snout, this Mustang doesn’t look so much like a muscle car as it does…well…something really, really, reallllllly ugly. This is just not an attractive car.
We much prefer Edmunds Inside Line’s rendering, which keeps the Evos styling from front to back, while making room for the Mustang’s performance presence. We will say the styling is much more European, and Ford definitely wants to sell the Mustang globally. But we think AutoGuide needs to go back to the drawing board with this one.
