A Virginia man saw his Mustang roll through a major milestone last week – half a million miles on the odometer. That’s ninety cross country trips from New York City to Los Angeles… and back again. John Woleben bought the convertible 1994 V6 Mustang late in 1993 and it has stayed in the family ever since.

At one point, he gave the pony car to his son as a medical school graduation present. The son returned it after adding 100,000 miles – the point by which most people are ready to move on to a new vehicle. Woleben has been driving the drop top ever since.
“I love the car and the body style, and I have a ragtop. It’s comfortable. It’s the right size for me,” Woleben told the Suffolk News-Herald recently. He was driving along U.S. Route 58 last Friday when the magic moment came. “I was watching it,” Woleben said. “The five started coming up first and then all the zeros followed along.”
Woleben attributes the milestone performance to regular oil changes and has no intention of replacing the 15-year old car. If necessary, he’ll replace the engine and keep driving. “If I can get an engine for $2,000, that beats buying a new one,” he added. “It’s been a good one.”
