If you’re a Ford GT lover, you may want to skip this story.
A few weeks ago we brought you the story of an unnamed robbery victim who returned to his Rancho Sante Fe, California home to find his 2005 Ford GT missing. It was quite the sensational case, as cops had few suspects and little evidence on how this amazing car just up and disappeared.
Well the cops did finally catch up with the criminals, but too late to save the Ford GT. UT San Diego reports that cops caught the criminals red handed, and recovered the few bits and pieces of the Ford GT that were left. Alas, it is the end of the road for this once-beautiful supercar.
The car was stolen as part of what seems to be a high-end chop shop. The Ford GT was hacked up into numerous pieces, most likely for sale on the Internet where stolen parts are easy to hide. Police also recovered two Porsches and other stolen property from a series of warehouses in the San Diego area.
Sadly, this Ford GT was meant to be a family heirloom, and in the 8 years since it was purchased, it had racked up just 800 miles. That is literally a crying shame, as attrition is quickly taking its toll on these rare and expensive cars. From the looks of it, there are a lot of parts still leftover…but putting this Ford GT back together is probably more work than its worth.
How any person could bring themselves to do this is beyond us.
