With a limited production number of only 137 units for the 2015 model year, you’d think the Shelby GT350 well had run dry quite some time ago – but you’d be wrong.
With car enthusiasts and collectors like Jay Leno snagging up some of the more rare models like a 50th Anniversary Shelby GT350R model, we assumed they’d all been accounted for as well.
If you’re in the market for a 2015 Shelby GT350, then you’ll be happy to know that a brand-new 50th Anniversary 2015 Shelby GT350 will be heading to the Mecum Auctions this May in Indianapolis, Indiana. Getting right into the specifics of the car, this Shelby GT350 is finished in Deep Impact Blue and features the optional over-the-top white stripes package. The exterior color and stripe combination constitutes this Shelby as one of four GT350 models produced the same, which is pretty damn cool if you ask us.
Moving along, this Shelby GT350 (which is serial number F0136 out of the earlier mentioned 137 models) is also one of 50 GT350 models produced equipped with the optional Technology Package. The package adds a Ford SYNC and 7-speaker audio layout, but it also incorporates the new and exclusive to the Shelby MagneRide magnetic suspension damping system, heavy-duty springs, and Ford’s integrated driver control (IDC).
What really sets this particular Shelby GT350 apart from some of the others is that it looks as if the car has only ever taken delivery at a dealership, then immediately shipped to Mecum in Indianapolis to prepare for the auction in May. But the question is, why?
With the factory plastic covering the interior still intact, the window sticker still affixed to the passenger’s side window, and a verified 33 actual miles on this Shelby GT350; one can only assume this car had probably collected a fair amount of dust whilst sitting on a showroom floor for months.
And there could be a simple reason for that. Recently, we’ve seen these cars (as well as GT350R models) skyrocket in asking-price due to outrageous markups from some dealerships.
This could be the case for this particular Shelby GT350, or it could not be. We’re taking a shot in the dark by thinking that the dealership might have banked on the car not only being one of 137 limited production units produced, but also using the fact that this car is one of four models produced with it’s color combination, and one of 50 produced with the optional Technology Package. Of course that’s just speculation on our end. In regards to the auction itself, we’re extremely curious to see what this particular GT350 will bring in. We’ve seen these cars in the past sell for high numbers at auctions, with some models bringing over $100,000 in revenue. And we’ve seen these cars draw huge crowds and support when auctioned off for raffles and charities.
But what say you, Shelby enthusiast? What do you think this specific Shelby GT350 could bring at the Mecum Auction in Indianapolis, Indiana this May?
