Back in April, Ford recreated the stunt of putting a Mustang atop the Empire State building, something they did back in 1965 with the original. Today they topped that by placing a 2015 Mustang atop the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, located in Dubai..

Bill Ford, Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company, hosted the action packed event by escorting a 2015 yellow Mustang to the 112th floor of the world famous Dubai skyscraper. At approximately 1,300 feet above ground the grandson of Henry Ford and the sixth generation Mustang garnered around 10,000 spectators who came out to attend the historic moment. Also filmed, the special event was viewed live from around the world on YouTube by a countless number of fans, enthusiasts and owners of the iconic pony.

A historic moment for not only Ford but for the automotive industry as a whole, Bill Ford shared “Today we planted the Ford flag in the Middle East & Africa, an exciting, vibrant region that represents the final frontier for growth in the auto industry,” Bill Ford said. “We also sent a message to the world that Mustang is going global after 50 years as America’s greatest motoring icon.”

The Mustang has been a popular car in the middle east for the last several years. Interest has grown in American performance and muscle cars with the emerging Middle East market. This budding performance market is full of potential new customers for the Mustang.

Ford has committed to the launch of twenty five vehicles in the new market by 2016, which includes the debut of the new S550 Mustang platform next year.  “A century ago Henry Ford had a vision to open the highways to all mankind,” said Jim Benintende, president, Ford Middle East and Africa.

With that said, a team of six engineers along with Bill Ford traveled around the world today opening those highways globally, taking the Mustang to new heights. An event which displays on a global scale that Ford Motor Company is an innovator and leader on many levels and has ensured the continuation of the brand for generations to come. Given that this is a yellow Fastback, we’re wagering it’s the same car that Ford put atop the Empire State Building seven months ago, but can’t confirm it at this time.  The question now is, how are they going to top this?
