Ford Motor Company is trying to go as global as possible with sharing platforms and many common parts across the grid. The Ford Mustang and the Edge are scheduled to make their UK debut soon, and one little car may have been confirmed for production in Europe for 2015, the Ford Focus RS.
The hot little hatchback is generating some buzz as rumors surface of a 2015 Ford Focus RS to start production, first starting in Europe. It’s hard to predict if this little hatch will make it to the United States since the cost to export the RS might not be worth it.
As you probably know, Ford has a “One Ford” policy, which means that Americans may get to test out the new Focus RS, unless it proves to be more of a burden (and too close to the ST) to get it over here than what it’s worth.
This little front wheel drive car will feature the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine – the same one that will likely debut in the Mustang sometime in the near future. The output isn’t known just yet, but it’s likely to be a zippy little car that will likely be a blast fun to drive.
Supposedly, the AWD from the Escape is just too bulky for the Focus RS, so the team come up with a clean sheet design. The design will improve torque steer with a revised RevoKnuckle for the front suspension, five-doors, and “Sound Symposer” from the ST which brings the engine purr inside of the cabin.
While the ST is the hot Focus right now, the RS will bring more in regards to performance. The problem is that Ford isn’t sure if Americans will buy a car like this no matter how fast it is. What do you guys think? Would you buy this little Focus if it ever hits the US market?
