The all -new 2015 Ford Mustang made a dynamic appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom. This was the first appearance of the 5.0 liter V8 Fastback in the U.K. giving spectators a sneak peak of the new horse in action.
Participating in the Supercar Class at the world famous festival, seated behind the wheel of the 2015 Mustang was David Put, Ford Team RS vehicle dynamics specialist. The Competition Orange Fastback displayed its abilities in the hill climb event and gave enthusiasts the chance to see and hear this angry horse on at full gallop.
The event was also an opportunity to showcase the new suspension design of the 2015 Mustang. In this new set up at the front, new double-ball-joint front MacPherson struts feature and enable the use of larger, more powerful brakes. Powering the rear is an “integral-link’ independent rear suspension, which replaced the solid axle that has been on every Mustang since its birth in 1964 (except 99-04 Cobras).
Also at the festival was Gran Turismo 6 for Playstation. Sony Computer Entertainment and Ford joined forces during the festival to present the first-ever “virtual versus real” race on the hill. Each day pitted Ford drivers against a gamer at a console for a real time race. The head to head battle appeared on big screens throughout the festival for spectators to view.
With a stellar first appearance of the 2015 Mustang in action in the Euro scene, we anticipate the Ford Mustang to continue growing its dominance in the worldwide market.
