We think that most Mustang fans never get tired of seeing their favorite muscle car beat up on the competition, especially when that competition is the Chevrolet Camaro SS. The Mustang and Camaro are both American muscle cars of the highest order and the thing that makes this video review of the Boss 302 beating up on a Camaro SS different is that the video review is from Autocar in Europe.
Autocar took both cars, drove them around, and then had an old-fashioned mile long drag race to see which of the cars came out on top. The Camaro does appear to be an automatic car so it’s rated for less power than the 6-speed manual LS3 version. However, some might see that auto as a benefit in a drag race. The Autocar gang puts the Boss and the Camaro through a hoon session on the track and a standing mile drag race.
The drivers of the cars may be suspect considering they recorded a 0-60 time of 5-seconds for the Boss and 5.44-seconds for the Camaro. The Boss has hit 60 MPH a second faster than that in other reviews. It’s also worth noting that the Boss used here doesn’t appear to be running Track Key. The Boss 302 tripped the timing lights after a mile at 150.16 MPH and needed 33.11 seconds to get there. The SS was far enough back that this wasn’t a close race. The SS needed 35.54 seconds to hit the mile mark with a trap speed of 146.32 MPH. My favorite part of the entire video is the cute hostess of the video saying the Boss 302 is “Frankly just bloody brilliant.”
