It may be December, but Ford is just now rolling out the 2015 Mustang convertibles to dealers across the USA. Ford had previously said that the convertibles would be available a few months after the Fastback models went on sale. We even heard rumors that production convertibles would not be built or shipped until Job 2.
The all new convertibles will be shipping out and in the hands of customers soon. While it is cold for most of the country, in fact, too cold most days to drop the top, Ford assures buyers that the convertible, like any other Mustang is equipped for nearly any weather. “Cold weather may have come unseasonably early this year, but with available heated seats, remote start and selectable drive modes with a snow/wet setting, Mustang is the perfect offering for the season,” said Melanie Banker, Mustang brand manager.
Previously unknown to us, all Mustangs with an automatic transmission come equipped with remote start. That means firing up your pony on those frosty winter mornings just got a little easier. In the release regarding the convertibles, Ford states that the climate control system works to get the car to a comfortable temperature once it’s started via remote start.
Premium convertible models also get heated and cooled seats. This should keep your backside comfortable and help you feel a little warmer as old man winter tightens his grip, and prevents you from enjoying any drop top fun for the next few months.
Premium models also get selectable drive modes, which includes a wet/snow setting. We haven’t had an opportunity to test this yet, but would be anxious to see just how manageable it makes a S550 during the winter driving season. “Mustangs are made for year-round practicality and enjoyment,” Banker said, “so it’s exciting that customers are taking delivery of their convertible Mustang models – regardless of the season.”
If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on a S550 convertible, now’s your chance, we expect that these cars will be in dealer showrooms just in time for Christmas.
