It’s not too often we find ourselves getting excited about a 1973 Ford Mustang. However, a one-of-one convertible that recently popped up for sale on Craigslist in North Carolina had us paying attention. This 1973 was special ordered in black, a color that was not available in 1972, 1973, or 1974 at the dealerships.

In a time when the fuel crunch was in full swing, we can imagine a dealer would have pulled whatever strings required to sell a Mustang, especially late in the model year. (The car was ordered on 3/29/1973 according to its Marti Report.) If that was a special color, then so be it. With 18 other colors to choice from, apparently it was a black convertible or no convertible at all for the original owner. We can’t blame them. The car looks great, and was for sale on Craigslist along with a hand full of other Fords in what appears to a building full of cool cars and antiques.

A trio of 1950 machines highlight the rest of the Fords in the collection. One features only 16,000 original miles and claims to have been in storage since 1954. Another has been in a barn since the 1970s. The third car is apparently undergoing a restoration and features a Fat Man front suspension and a late-model Police Interceptor engine. There was also a 1956 Ford Club Sedan, a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500, and a wrecked 1972 Mustang up for sale in the collection.

The listing included a wide variety of parts include a Mustang Toploader four-speed manual transmission, a Mercury Flathead V8, and a new, old stock early ’50s Ford three-speed manual transmission just to name a few.
