Many have been asking and now the facts are here. In a exclusive conversation with Tim Lynch, we have acquired details on the much awaited engine combination being built behind the walls at Proline Race Engines. There has a constant buzz of controversy on the message boards in the past few days with a lot of speculation to what is actually happening.

Well it appears that the unthinkable has happened and the masterminds will be assembling a Chevrolet based engine for the Outlaw 10.5 Mustang driven by Tim Lynch. Turbo guru Steve Petty and Tim have been working diligently, compiling parts to push themselves back to the top of the field. A certain Camaro has been making headway on becoming the fastest on 10.5 tires and the Lynchmob couldn’t stand to have that happen.

The new billet aluminum block is expected to be delivered within the next few weeks along with a massive set of cylinder heads from Sonny Leonard. It has been said that the new bullet would be bigger but in all reality it is nearly identical to the old Ford engine. Lynch stated that they have not figured the exact numbers as of yet but it should fall between 670 and 700 cubic inches.
A five inch bore has been chosen over the previous 4.560” bore to allow for better cylinder heads to be used. The record setting motor that came out of the car was equipped with C460 heads from Ford which were the same as you can buy off the shelf. Tim mentioned that the Sonny Leonard pieces will be the key to the increased performance that is expected. In fact early flow numbers show that they are capable of 130cfm more on the intake side.
For the beginning of the 2009 season, the setup will retain the same Precision Pro Mod turbos that previously produced over 3000 horsepower on the old combo. Steve and Tim are very excited to see what the numbers show on just the engine change which is the reason for not changing the turbo combination. One custom piece that will be under the hood is a custom sheet metal manifold built around the heads because at this time there is not a cast manifold in production to fit them. Tim also informed me that if testing goes well there may be a change to alcohol in the near future for the Petty tuned monster.

Let the fight to the 3 second zone begin. Tim Lynch and Steve Petty are ready to set the world on fire with the record setting performances that they have become known for. We wish them the best of luck and can not wait to see the car back on track which they are hoping will be as soon as late January. Interested in buying from one of the best?
