Moving our project cars along, one project at a time.
Today in the garage, we were dealing with our 1987 5.0 Foxbody Mustang. Recently we changed the brake system to a Wilwood racing system that included larger front rotors, replacing the rear drums with large rotors, and a set of super race calipers. We also upgraded the master cylinder to a Wilwood Aluminum tandem Master. Totally bitchin system. But it still was lacking that certain something that made it manly.
Maximum Motorsports makes a manual brake conversion that works perfectly for an upgraded brake system and is manly enough to belong in our project car.
So we converted our brake system to a manual. Manual brakes are manly.
Tom and I love working on brakes. Usually we start working on brake systems about 8 in the morning and pound a few beverages and do our work. I usually have a few barley pops while Tom nurses down a couple of grape Nehi's.
Right about 4 or 5 in the evening, we get the job done. By this time, Tom goese through a 6 pack of Nehi's and I usually have about a 12 pack of Barley pops down the hatch. We have found this to be the manly way of performing a test drive after working on brakes.
Because the boss was here today, we had to follow the instruction manual line by line, and water was the beverage of choice (his choice not ours).
Bottom line, I liked the manual brake conversion kit from Maximum Motorsports and it works great on our project car. Tom and I would have preferred to drink our normal beverages before the test drive however.
