One of life’s lessons that most of us have learned over the years; is a job worth doing is a job worth doing right. So, since many of us here at powerTV have already lived through many of these dirty little life’s lessons moments, we decided to let Tom, our rookie dawg continue his education here at good ole’ powerTV University.
First, we handed him the broom and mop bucket. We at least wanted to make sure he could handle that. Then we set him loose on a couple of little projects on the cars. He did pretty good there. Heck, we even let him write some of the great articles many of you read on a daily basis.
Well, our little project Swinger has seen better days. With BJ being very busy fixing what some hack repair shop did many moons ago. We have found ourselves with the sub-frame that needed some serious attention. After taking it to the local sand blasting shop and they (insert laughing at us here) telling us we need to do a better job cleaning it. So considering the time and cost to clean this we decided to do it in house.
Here is our plan. BJ and I will tell Tom how great it would be if the sub-frame of the Nova were down to the bare metal. We could make her nice and pretty with a smooth powder coating on it. Just short of telling him it would be the coolest thing ever, sand blasting the hell out of the frame, we did tell him he would be able to knock it out in a few hours time.
He first started off using the inside of our freshly stripped Nova as a make-shift blasting cabinet. That didn’t work. Then after noticing one of the dumpsters was missing, a few well placed sheets of clear plastic and a will to complete, Tom has progressed very well.
Three 100 plus degree days later, several bags of blasting media and several clogged tips, we now can say he has learned that proverbial life lesson. Yes, I am proud to say that BJ and I have helped him become our little Pigpen.
