Project V6: Bassani X-pipe & Dual Mufflers
The guys over at Bassani decided that our stock exhaust needed an upgrade on our Project New Take Off V6, so they installed a Bassani X-pipe and true Dual Exhaust with Bassani's 2.5-inch Street Race Mufflers. This is soon to be available for the V6 Applications either with the New Take Off GT Mufflers, or with the Bassani Street Race Mufflers.

We did a full video blog and we'll get some "first release" photos of this V6 Bassani Dual Exhaust conversion with the New Take Off / Bassani Mufflers, but in the mean time enjoy this Dynojet clip and dyno chart!

The funny thing is the car was pig fat, 10.2:1 air fuel ratio. There's another 15-20 hp rear wheel horsepower in this V6.

sweet dyno run guys really impressive. hard to believe a v6 can make that kind of power. does xcharger make a kit for 5.0 cars?

Did you log the boost?

The power and torque curve is very flat. Must feel very bold on the street tires.

That little car is pretty sporty. I got the chance to drive it to the Irwindale track from Temecula in Southern California traffic. It's a pleasure to drive. With the Bassani Exhaust it has a really pleasant tune at highway speed. At the track is where the supercharger and exhaust really shines. No one could tell that this little V-6 was not a GT. No one.
It does has a much better sound than any of the stock GT's that I saw at the track. The supercharger whine and the unique rumble of the Bassani exhaust made it stand out. I was plenty proud to stand by the car in the staging area and have the other drivers come over and check it out.

Entry fee to the track: 20 dollars
Racetrack food because you missed supper: 10 dollars
Gasoline for three passes: 15 dollars
The look on people's faces when they realize that bad ass sound and quick time was from a V-6: PRICELESS

Contrary to what one might think, the BMR lower control arms, front and rear springs, the GT shocks and the 8.8 rear end made this car hook up very nicely.
Overall, the handling (even on street tires) is very good.

Hey Blue92, thanks for asking.

Ok. Here's the story so that you get the full understanding.
I'm a circle track guy. Short track dirt racer. I grew up in the midwest where dirt track racing is king. Won Championships and all kinds of awards in that type of Racing. I've never been to a drag strip in my entire life until yesterday. So my times are not a real good representation.
James and the other drivers around the office have been mentoring me on how to do this straight line stuff, so I'm getting more familiar with it.

My reaction times were from 1.063 to 1.466. So from what the other guys were telling me, I was pretty much asleep at the line. They suggested drinking some red bull in the staging area.

My 60 foot time was from 2.026 to 2.089. Which I guess is ok. James wants me to get a 5 pound barbell weight and tie it on my right shoe.

The track is a 1/8 mile, and the first pass I made, I lifted early because I didn't understand where the finish line was (there wasn't a flagman waving a checkered flag so I was lost). But the 1/8 times ranged from 9.011 to 9.196

I even killed the car at the green light one time (yeah I know. Shame on me) but I got it fired up and still caught the car in the other lane at the finish line. I have the time slip to prove it.

If you give me a few more days to practice, I think I could do a lot better. So, as for the run times, remember that there was a rookie driver. I did the work on the car though, so I wasn't coming out of the driver's seat.

By the way, I had a blast. This straight line asphalt racing ain't so bad.

That's cool that you got behind the wheel and had a good time. Not bad times for a v6 supercharged really, i think it's pretty fast. do you have any videos at all?
