NMRA has just finished up their 10 season of racing Mustangs across the country. The last couple of years the race schedule has been pretty close to the same with minor tweaks here and there. ProMedia tried going west of the Mississippi when the ventured to Dallas Texas one year, but it was in the middle of the summer and the attendance was not up to par with all the heat. The other big change NMRA tried was a couple of years racing in Kansas City, Missouri, but it did not last with the long distance most racers had to travel. The new schedule has several surprises and it quite different to last years.
Races Staying the Same-
• The Super Bowl @ Route 66 outside of Chicago is still in the middle of July.
• The Finals at Bowling Green remain at the beginning of October.
• The Columbus Ohio race is over Labor Day weekend again in conjunction with the Ford Expo.
Races that Changed-
• The season opener in Bradenton, Florida is the same location and same dates as normal. But they have added the Spring Break Shootout presented by Muscle Mustangs to the line up.
• The Milan race is also same location and the same dates but they have changed to format. It will now be a 2 day race on Friday and Saturday. This is to help bring out the night time crowds Milan is know for and give the racers some time on Fathers Day which is that Sunday.
• The Atco, New Jersey race gets moved up in the schedule to the middle of May. There is not much chance there will be a WSC/WFC race this year so
NMRA took the date.
New Races and Races that are Gone-
• The Reynolds, Georgia race has been left off the schedule. I would assume the location not being close to anything hurt along with the lack of cell and internet service.
To replace the Reynolds race
ProMedia added a race at the new Z Max Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina. This race will be ran with an
NMCA race. The rumor is that it will be a different format than the Super Bowl. Lets hop that it has something to do with it being a 4 lane drag strip.
