NMRA Milan 2008 Saturday Coverage
It is looking like a great day for racing in Milan today. The skies have cleared and the sun is shinning. There is still plenty of water on the ground but the staff here are making due. The car show cars are filling in and the swap meet area is almost full. They are prepping the track the full quarter mile and calling cars to the lane now. Everyone will have the opportunity to make one pass before qualifying.

Time trials are starting now!
Chris Tuten is on the property, but is only here helping his brother in EFI Renegade. He hurt his motor in test and was unable to get a crank in time to make this race.

Jim Monson and Greg Blevins Jr. are making their first appearance at an NMRA race for 2008 running in Pro Outlaw.

John Kolivas runs an unofficial 7.99 in NMRA Drag Radial. During the time trial Saturday morning John laid down the record pass. If he can do it later today he will take home an extra $5,000. We will see in about an hour if John can run the number in the first round of qualifying.

Dan Millen hurt the engine on his number one qualifying pass in Pro 10.5. Dan ran a 6.93 at 205 mph.

Super Street outlaw number 2 qualifier AJ Powell found a hole in his intake tube. One of the Halfacre brothers was kind enough to weld it up for him.

Shawn Johnson was able to get in the 10’s on his second pass in Pure Street trim. After the pass he had the cam covers off the car. I was not able to find out what the trouble was, but it sounded like they would not try to fix it until qualifying is over.

Eric Burkhart is in his first year racing with the NMRA. On his first pass today he hurt the transmission, and so far he is unable to locate someone with a spare.

Looks like we will be waiting a little while for the final qualifying sheets.
In the mean time I have posted the photos from round three.

John Kolivas hurt the motor in his car. The damage is known to be a broken valve, but they are not sure how extensive the damage really is. We will try to update Sunday morning.

Tommy Godfrey hurt the transmission in his factory stock car.

Zac Posey was another racer who had transmission problems. They were swapping out the trans in his Super Street Outlaw car after qualifying was finished.
