It's Sunday!!...... Yawn
Nothing like energy drinks at 7:30 am to keep you going. Today is the final day of the final points race for the 2009 NMRA championship. A lot of class winners are already decided in points, though there is room to move up in some classes. Bracket eliminations are going on right now and we will be getting into heads up eliminations shortly.

The sun never looked so bright, gleaming off Race Pages editor Greg Acosta's head.

Drag Radial Championship update

It will all come down to round two of eliminations in Drag Radial to determine the championship between Enzo Pecchini and Jason Lee, that is if they both make it to the second round. If you look at the runs from the race weekend, Enzo has posted lower ETs through his qualifying efforts and sits in second for the weekend. It wasn't a surprise when we found Jason sitting in his motor home, figuring out his tune up.

Sean Lyon has stepped up his game this year since his 2008 rookie series. For Sean, it was more about getting use to the car through testing more than anything. Last night, Sean and Enzo made history as the first pair of drag radial cars to both run 7 second passes, which he said the pairing was purely luck. If Sean does well this weekend, he will secure the number three spot. For next year Sean hopes to return to the NMRA, pending the rules for the 2010 season. And yes, Sean's favorite color is yellow and tries to keep it on everything from golf karts to t-shirts....

Some Semis Before the Rain
Renegade

Larry Hourcle red lit against 2009 Renegade Champion Bob Cook, which motored to a 8.464 @ 162.29 mph in his stealth fox body GT. Alton Clements had a buy run to a 8.384 @ 165.27 mph, giving him lane choice in the finals against Cook.

Hot Street

Don Bowles took a low key run in his semi final bye run, which was the point he secured the Hot Street championship. In a last minute call, Charlie Booze opted for the right lane, putting Max Gross in the left. Gross wheelied the car and got out of shape, handing the win to Booze.

Pro Outlaw Final Decided - Rain Out Til Monday - Burton Repairs
It has been raining on and off most of the day. The rain had no sign of showing and the track was cooling down too much. This was a recipe for disaster and made the right call to run some semis and all finals tomorrow at 10 am.

Keith Neal and Jim Brown decided to flip a coin for the win in Pro Outlaw 10.5 rather than race tomorrow due to the rain out. Jim Brown called the right side and won his first Pro Outlaw win on the toss.

The rain might be the answer Don Burton was looking for. It was rumored that Burton's motor was hurt, but was still planning to run the semis against Urist. The battle between Burton and Urist is a classic battle at the Bowling Green Finals, in which Burton has not had good luck with. The crew will spend their night freshening the engine in hopes to turn their luck against Urist here. Regardless of the semi final win, Urist is still the SSO 2009 champion
