The track is been trying to figure out their internet connection problems, though they are unsure if they will be able to get it running by the end of the weekend. Unfortunately, this will delay our coverage of the race.

Friday NMRA Atco coverage
Thank you to everyone that has been patient throughout our battle with the lack of internet at the track. The rest of the coverage will continue as follows. Special thanks to SCT Performance for making this coverage possible

The morning started out sort of overcast with the threat of rain all around. The Atco triangle is known for its odd weather pattern and this weeknd seems that it will be no different. The gates were lined with rigs bright and early waiting to be parked and as the trailers opened up the preporations began for the days activities.

The Atco sign drew a slew of local race fans even with the threat of rain

From the pits
As I scoured the pits their was plenty of action early with many racers working to prepare for the test & tune session that will be run later today. Many drivers were delighted to see that the skies seemed to be clearing as the morning moved on and hopefully there will be plenty of racing to go around.

The Champ John Urist waited in the tech line and feels very confident about his chances here today.

Enzo Pecchini is debuting a new air intake setup designed by Mike Duffy and Panhandle Performance.

The team of Joe Tomas and Yanni Papakosmas are making a converter change after testing earlier in the week and hope this will be the combination they are looking for.

Anthony Dissomma made the short trip to Atco with a brand new body on his car and it now sports a beautiful orange paint job with a Ford Hemi under the hood.

Test & Tune Friday
The call bellowed from the tower for cars to head to the lanes and it may have been a sign as the skies cleared and the sun shined bright. A pleasant sight for racers as they filled the staging lanes for three hours of testing to be followed by first round qualifying later tonight.

It appears that the converter change by Yanni Papakosmas was in the right direction but the car hazed the tires violently on the first run.

Don Bowles has his Maverick figured out and leaving hard as is evident by the wheels up launches.

Keith Neal made a nice clean pass early on and lifted at the top end coasting to 7.32@160mph

Pure Streets Jimmy Wilson was experiencing some hood latch issues as his car launched hard and carried the wheels well past sixty feet.

First Round Qualifying
The first round of qualifying got started at 7pm and with the air temperature dropping so will the track . The drivers that I have spoke with are excited about the opportunity to have a shot at good air for this session.

Drag Radial finds a familiar face at the front of the pack in Jason Lee

This Mustang out of maryland is making only its second pass ever since being completed by HFR Fabrication. Look for more on this one tomorrow.

Robbie Blankenship made a strong effort by running a 8.64@155mph.

Keith Neal laid down the only six second pass of the night in Pro Outlaw as Murillo was having transmission troubles and Millen drifted out of the groove around 100ft out.

Unfortunately I do not have the qualifying sheets but I will try and get them in the morning and post them from my phone. Thanks Matt
