New Parts from the Super Bowl: SCT, Auto Meter, M/T & Comp Motorsports!

While we were in town, feverishly covering the NMRA/NMCA Superbowl race in Joliet, we had a chance to stop by a few vendors and see what they were doing with their race weekend. The combined race brings in a load of vendors to the midway and we were able to talk with Mickey Thompson, Competition Motorsports, and Autometer between rounds.

SCT Performance



Pro Outlaw 10.5 is the fastest class in the NMRA. As classes get faster, the cost of racing goes up. SCT Performance has partnered up with multi-time champion Mike Murillo on a sponsorship for his twin turbo Mustang. But SCT also helps Mike achieve better gas mileage and power out of his tow vehicle with his SCT hand held tuner. Murillo comes into Joliet with two back-to-back wins.

Mickey Thompson



If you have ever been to a major drag racing event, you have surely seen the Mickey Thompson rig there. Not only do they sell tires and wheels there, but they also offer racer support. Anything from standard wheels to bead locks, they have the ability to mount tires at their rig. But M/T not only sells race tires, but they also carry a full line of street to off road tires as well. They also work with racers directly on tire testing and tire choice for their combination.

Competition Motorsports Track Meter



What consistency do you get when scraping your shoe across the track to see how sticky it is? None. Competition Motorsports designed a tool that allows race teams to monitor the break away torque of the race track. Then a graphical interface is used to add in multiple test points on the track to show what part of the tracks are working and the spots that suffer. This gives the ability for race teams to dial in power curves to meet the ever changing track conditions.

Auto Meter



Auto Meter is one of the most recognizable names when it comes to monitoring the vitals of your expensive parts. Though standard mechanical and electric gauges offer great feedback for what is going on in real time, they lack in the ability to log exactly what was going on during a run. Auto Meter has solutions that offers up to 44 channels of logging that can monitor anything from wheelie bar pressure, oil temperature, to driveshaft speed.
