New Parts coming from Ford Racing?
Red Light Alert! Big news from Dearborn, Michigan... Ford Racing will be getting more involved in grassroots circle track racing. And the question is - what does that mean for the street/strip and Ford Mustang enthusiast.

Some of the highlights of the Ford Announcement are:
  • Ford Racing is looking to offer a very limited number of D3 heads with matching intakes (which were previously only used in NASCAR series) to select racers who provide a written proposal to Mike Delahanty for consideration. Mike's email link is listed below in the press announcement.
  • Additional used NASCAR parts are available for purchase at the Roush/Yates engine shop.
  • Development of a Ford Mustang body for short track use.
  • A new Boss 351 cylinder block that will be available in 9.200 and 9.500 deck heights
  • FRPP will have an aluminum 351 block available late this year/early next year.

FORD RACING PRESS RELEASE
FROM THE DIRECTOR: SHORT TRACK STOCK CAR RACING

Dearborn, Mich. - From the mailbox of Brian Wolfe, director Ford Racing Technology:

How about filling us in on plans Ford Racing has for getting more involved with short track stock car racing?

Brian Wolfe: Dan, thanks for asking the question, this is one area where we have been criticized for dragging our feet a bit, but with knowledgeable and loyal Ford racers like you, providing guidance we are taking actions to improve our presence within the short track stock car racing world.

As a first step, Ford Racing has just contracted Mike Delahanty to oversee our short track racing development program. Mike will be our
interface with short track racers and the sanctioning bodies, and will be out there meeting with the racers and getting us a better
understanding of what they need Ford to be doing to help make their Ford race cars more competitive.

Mike will take that feedback and work with our engineers back here to help develop better parts and pieces that racers can then buy through
our performance parts catalog.

Some actions we have on our list include:

* New casting tooling for the N351 cast iron cylinder head is complete and these heads are now being shipped.

* Investigating offering a GT40 Cast Iron Head (at your request as a matter of fact).

* We are about to release a new Boss 351 cylinder block that will be available in 9.200 and 9.500 deck heights, which will be the absolutely
best block on the market for the money.

* We will have an aluminum 351 block available late this year/early next year.

* We are looking to offer a very limited number of D3 heads with matching intakes (previous NASCAR usage) to select racers who provide a
written proposal to Mike for consideration (Mike can be reached via e-mail). Additional used NASCAR parts are available for purchase at the Roush/Yates engine shop.

* We will contact body manufacturers to see if they can offer a Mustang body for short track use.

Our goal, much like we have done in sportsman drag racing this past year, we want to be more racer-friendly to the short track crowd and we think this is a great first step.

The Director
