With the constant progression of Outlaw Drag Radial during the 2008 season there were quite a few racers that felt they needed another place to race. In what seemed simultaneous motion two different organizations on the east coast started such classes. Matt Jewell and the Maryland Street Racing Association put together a two race trial run for all stock suspension cars on a 275 drag radial tire. Combinations were left somewhat open as for limitations to see exactly would be brought to the table.
With the season concluded there seems to be lots of promise for a very exciting racing format. Combinations were anything from nitrous small blocks to N/A big blocks such as Mike Barry's first gen Camaro. This class even managed to bring out the legend himself Extreme Dean Beitzel in his notchback Mustang who is a long time member of the
MSRA.
With the help of John Sears of
Outlawradial.net there was a small block N20 series put together for cars on 275 radials as well. Running with the
OSBA at tracks throughout Maryland and Virginia they showed solid car count at each and every race this year. With anything from Mustangs to S10 pickups the action was fast paced with times in the low 5.40 range in the eigth mile.
If you are into fast paced wheelstanding action these two series are a sure crowd pleaser and will be growing fast into 2009.
