Ken Block is an up and coming driver, who is becoming even popular with his YouTube based videos. The Monster Energy sponsored Subaru Impreza has gained much of its visibility and popularity due, in large part, to Block's incredible driving skill and marketability. Because of Subaru's recent decision to withdraw from Rally, Block will no longer be competing in the Rally America competition. Rather, he and another former Subaru driver, Chris Atkinson, will be joining the Ford team and driving the 2009-spec Ford Focus for the top tier WRC.
Autoblog proclaims this to be one of the most significant deals in Rally history.

Both drivers will be participating in the 2009 Ford Focus WRC for the new Monster Energy Drink World Rally Team. This opportunity will allow Block to showcase his absolutely incredible car-control abilities in a world competition series.
Block and Atkinson are expected to start next season in select rounds of the championship, before taking on the full-calendar the year after. We will likely see Block and Atkinson in the new Rally-spec Ford Fiestas for 2011.
