Last month we brought you the breaking news of the Evolution Performance team that was in the process of finalizing their 2007 Shelby GT500. The plan was to create their S197 the first into the seven second zone. Initially, the numbers on the combination were estimated at a 1000 horsepower but by watching the dyno runs, it is evident that they have well surpassed that.

Evolution Performance, which is based out of Aston, Pa., has a reputation for being in the record books with the new model Shelby Mustangs. But this one takes the cake as they have used an all aluminum 5.4L that has been outfitted with a pair of
Precision Turbo 67mm pieces. On the dyno while running 24lbs of boost, the engine made 1272 horsepower. At just over 1000ft-lbs of torque that is quite a feat for the small 67mm turbos.

The Evolution team unveiled the Shelby at the season opener
NMRA race in Bradenton, Florida where performances were good enough to get into the high 7.90’s and as quick as 7.97 at 172mph. After the trek back from Bradenton they made their way to Silver Dollar Raceway to do some more testing and even more seven second timeslips. Th result was coming away with a 7.94 as well as the quickest and fastest pass for a S197 Shelby Mustang.
