Where has Erica Ortiz been? Well since her 2006 season where she finished second in Pro 5.0 on the Fun Ford Weekend tour. Erica and crew have been working hard to make it back on track to follow up where they left off. With the growth of the ADRL and ORSCA introducing the automatic pro mod class, all points lead right into the thick of things in those series.

Erica's Thunderbird that was campaigned in 2006
In 2006 a Ford Thunderbird was campaigned on a tight budget with just average run of the mill parts. A Ford 460 block was used along with a cast crank and Cobra Jet heads. A massive pair of twin turbos motivated the Thunderbird to a career best 6.69 ET. With more and more close competition the Horsepower & Heels crew pulled down the car for a engine upgrade and a new body.
With 2009 in their sites the project is nearing completion. Dan Parker at
Parker Chassis and
Johnston Body Works are burning the midnight oil to complete the Mustang. Ortiz says its getting closer and can not thanks these guys enough for all the work they have done. Motivation will be provided by an Al Moody big block Ford topped off with
Trick Flow A460 heads which received special treatment from CFH Performance.
Exile Turbo Systems built a twin turbo setup with 88mm turbos. The kit was further fabricated by Parker Chassis. Backing the power up will be a three speed
Bruno/
Lenco transmission and a
Neal Chance converter. It has been a long road back and Erica is ready to be racing again. We sure wish her the best of luck and hope to see her racing soon. For more information on Erica and her car please visit her
