Dana Cook Runs a Personal Best 7.906 in the PSR Sponsored '05 Mustang
During a test and tune at Speedworld Drag Strip last weekend, Dana Cook of Mesa, Arizona, ran a personal best of 7.906 @ 179.35mph with a .042 reaction time. Dana is no newcomer to drag racing, however she just received her NHRA license this past February. One thing is certain - this woman knows how to drive! Not many people can run 7.90s within eight months of receiving their NHRA license. After the run, it was smiles all around with a big thumb's up from the driver.

Bill Lemay has certainly given this team an outstanding piece of equipment to work with.

The car is a 2005 Mustang sponsored by Performance Solutions Racing in Phoenix, Arizona, where the car is housed and worked on by Bill Lemay and Dana's husband Don. Don and Lemay are also co-crew chiefs. The car receives its rocket-like acceleration from a 5.4L DOHC with custom turbo cams, Ford GT Supercar 4V heads, a custom Sullivan intake and twin 74mm hybrid turbos (which you can see are placed in the grille). All of this power gets laid to the ground through a Powerglide transmission, a custom carbon fiber driveshaft that links to a 9" rear end, and some 28/10.5W-15" tires that stick it to the pavement.

The car is currently undergoing some adjustments for the Street Car Super Nationals in Las Vegas next month. The adjustments include adding some weight, going to a true 28/10.5-15 tire, and putting in some mufflers. Bill is confident that he can step up on the motor's tune/boost level and make more power, in order to compensate for the sacrifices that must be made to make the class.

Look for Dana to be making more 7-second runs and improving on her times as she gets more used to the car.
