HELL, CALL ME AQ REDNECK WARMONGER | You know what the problem with this is... even the American cars aren't American. Heck, they are half made in Mexico and Canada with parts out-sourced all over the world.
I read that Honda makes more cars in the US than some other companies.
Thoughts? |

I also think it is a horrible thing to not forgive and move on. Don't forget that WWII caused a lot of deaths of both innocent and evil. Heck I wonder how many of the soldiers in Germany and Japan were just following orders... Sounds familiar

| | | No matter how you look at it, those companies (ie BMW, Mitsubishi, ect) all decided to change their ways for the good. Should we buy their cars? To me, I love almost every type of car so I would (and do). So I don't think it's un-American to do so. Like James said, nothing is 100% one country anymore. We live in times of global thinking. Think about how many GM cars are from down under? Or how the new Mustang is based off a concept from a Italian guy.
Toyota I think is the one that makes the most cars in the US btw, but I could be wrong. |

| | | conquer and opress yea both sides did loose a lot of people!BUT!. REMEMBER WHO DREW FIRST BLOOD! and as far as global thinking goes, we americans and this country are hated by everybody else in the world! if you dont believe me just go to TJ MEXICO and see how you will get treated, and come back and tell us [IF YOU MAKE IT BACK AT ALL!] PEOPLE AND NATIONS ABSOLUTELY HATE AND DISPISE THIS GREAT NATION BECAUSE OF OUR PROSPOURUS WAY OF LIFE!THEY THINK WERE SPOILED,CLULESS,AND A BUNCH OF SATANIC HEATHENS. BUT THEY ALL WANT TO LIVE HERE AND CHASE THE AMERICAN DREAM,
do you think they sell american cars in china, japan, germany? the only ones with global thinking in mind is this countrys people!those companys BMW,MITSUBISHI, etc, etc, changed there ways because WE,[USA] WIPED THEM OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH!, AND THEN REBUILT THEM, as a matter of fact thats an american joke outside the UNITED STATES! [PISS OFF UNCLE SAM, HE WILL COME BOMB US AND THEN REBUILD US A 1000 TIMES BETTER] I WONDER IF THIS COUNTRY WAS TO BE DESTROYED IF ANY ONE OF THESE OTHER COUNTRYS WOULD COME AND REBUILD US? [I THINK NOT] DO ANY OF YOU KNOW HOW WE WERE TREATED AS PRISONERS OF WAR? OUR P.O.W's did not want to leave and wanted to stay after they were released! |

| | | I understand what you are saying. The fact of the matter is history is a funny thing. Agendas change over time, friends become enemies, and enemies become friends. Don't let things like political BS, be it past or present, dictate what car you drive. The car you drive should be something that you enjoy, be it a Shelby GT500, BMW 328i, or even a Honda. No, everyone isn't going to like you, but who cares. As long as you enjoy it. That's a true automotive enthusiast. Someone that see a car for what it is, not who makes it. |

| | | Yeah you are right about how hated we are. As they say in business, if you never fail, then you haven't done anything. If you fail, then at least you are doing something. The same goes for hate. Piss off a few people. At least we are trying something. As for US cars in other countries. Buick is pretty darn popular in Asia. And, talk to a lot of the big engine builders here in the states. they are shipping a large percentage of their engines all over the world. Even the countries that hate the evil American dog.
Toyota and Honda employ many Americans. They also build the vast majority of the cars that are sold here in the US, IN the US. So in my mind, that Toyota Tundra is American. It was designed by Americans for Americans. Just has a foreign backer!
With all that said. Japan, Germany, Korea, China... could never design or produce an icon like the Camaro, Corvette, GTO, Mustang, Challenger...

Sounds familiar | DollaBill, The just following orders argument didn't work at Nuremburg, and it don't work here. Gorilla makes some good points. I'd be proud to have a domestic beer with him. I don't know if Gorilla's views make him a redneck, but I sure the hell am! And proud of it. That's the greatest compliment that you can say to me.
Newguy, I'm not necessarily a hate monger, but I have trouble just seeing the car for what it is without seeing the manufacturer for what it is (and was). Remember......History often repeats itself (for example; WWI & WWII). The only comfort that I take in history repeating itself is, when the USA has let the Military man fight the war.....we were successful. God bless the U.S.

| | | My Dad worked for Ford Motor Company outside Chicago for over 35 years. They put food on the table and a roof over our heads. I spend my money at home when ever I can. I think all the American car companies are back to making good products.
