At the recent NHRA National Event at Route 66 Raceway, Rock Haas and Kyle Carrothers debuted their slick red SS/DA 2008 Cobra Jet Mustang and earned the coveted "Best Engineered" award.

The Cobra Jet is owned by Carrothers and Haas Racing and is driven by Rock Haas. The car features a Mike Pustelny Racing (MPR) chassis and is powered by a 5.4-liter modular Cobra Jet engine. At Chicago, during the three qualifying sessions it was consistently in the 1.20's zone for 60' times and totes the wheels like any real Super Stocker should. The car qualified in the 50th position with a -0.703 under 9.797 e.t. on a 10.50 SS/DA index.
SS/DA is a very competitive class filled with 396 Camaros and Hemi-powered Dodge Challengers. It will be interesting to see how the Cobra Jet fares once they get a handle on the combination.
The team still has some bugs to work out on the new car but they did come away from the event with the "Best Engineered" award! Look for this car to run at select Division 3 NHRA events and the “Big Go” U.S. Nationals in early September.
