Thursday:
We had to work on the car before we left SC which unfortunately put
us behind in getting to Joliet. That also left us no time to dyno or
test. We got to Joliet in time for 1 test pass, a partial one just
to check out the computer data.
Friday:
We made out 1st full pass and went 7.95@179. Very happy with running a
7 on the 1st full pass. After looking at the data I decided to change
the torque converter. We got it changed in time for 2nd round but when
we cranked the car up it had no oil pressure! We spent the rest of the
evening pulling the k-member out and oil pan off. After finding the oil
pressure problem we also discovered the thrust bearing had torn up and
hurt the crankshaft, when will the bad luck end, lol. We ended up
rolling in a new thrust bearing and crossing our fingers as the crank
had 32 thousandths of clearance! Hey, its the Superbowl- you dont
come up here with a race car and not race.
Saturday:
We had a great time the night before at the Bassani racer appreciation
party (thanks Darryl!) but today we are ready to race. Off the
trailer the car ran a 7.68 @ 186! Thanks again Dave @ Team Z
Motorsports for building me a bad hot rod! With that pass it put us #7
on a 16 car ladder. Unfortunately that also put us against SSO verteran
Sam Vincent. He was making partial passes in quallifying sorting his
new engine out, we knew he would be tough come eliminations.
Unfortunately i drew the big red bulb (-.001) but I did run a career
best of 7.64 @ 187 against Sams quicker 7.51. With his reaction time
there was no way I could have won, which made me feel alittle better.
Sunday:
No racing for us because we lost 1st round on Saturday. We did get to
bench race a lot and here is what we came up with, Micheal said if we go
7.50's him and everyone in the crew are going to party down, if we go
7.40's he's going to do a cart wheel on the starting line. Well I'm here
to tell ya i got to do my best to see that happen, get the ambulance
ready cause big boy might hurt himself trying, or I may hurt myself
laughing! We did get to see my brother Brian win his 1st race in
Renegade so it was a great weekend after all. Till next time, see ya!
