check engine light
i have a 01 gt with full exhaust( long headers back) k&n air filter, vortech supercharger. the car is relatively new to me. 2 times now i have run the car hard and the check engine light has come on. i had a mechanic clear it the first time and he said it was the fuel preasure sensor. he cleared it and 1 week went by then i stabbed throttle and light came back on. mechanic said same code, he cleared it. i dont remember if the same tank of fuel on both occasions but he said it could be bad chaep fuel. the car sat for a year before i got it, but passed emmisions and all when i got it. someone told me kennybell systems need a boost a pump so maybe that woiuld fix problem. any thoughts?

re: check engine lite
try running about 3-5 of VP C-16 RACEFUEL IN A FULL TANK OF GAS! [DEPENDING ON YOUR CELL SIZE] IF IT IS BAD GAS IT WILL HELP CLEAN IT UP, PLUS UP THE OCTANE IN WHICH THE MOTOR WILL LOVE.

Well, there are a LOT of questions I would have to help you on this.

#1 - who installed the Vortech system? Did they install the fuel injectors and fuel pump? Was it an HO kit?

#2 - With long tube headers, it is VERY common for the car to throw a check engine light without a custom tune? Is this the stock Vortech tune?

my understanding is a professional shop installed the vortech and tuned and dynoed the car. i do not know about fuel pump or injectors. i am assuming all was good. i cant believe he drove around with a check engine light on or re set it all the time. since posting question the car has not been driven to determine if the light comes back on again.

it is not bad fuel. two tanks of high test thru car and with the trac control off spun tires in 1st to 4k rpm shifted to second spinning tires to 4k rpm and light came on. i dont think it is getting fuel at high rpm. ill check the code this week.

I'd suggest the simple - take it to a shop you trust. Any in the area? Where are you located?

Go see Justin at JPC Racing. He'll take care of the problem.
