We always like finding awesome builds and this one is a good example of that. The Cobra Jet has been making waves in the drag racing world ever sense its return just a short time ago, and we knew it wouldn’t be long before someone decided to take the car and really go all out with it.
Jesse Powell from
Aeromotive sent us these pictures of the Cobra Jet they are building right now. They decided that if they were going to run this car in the 8s and beyond that, the chassis would need some work. So they entrusted the work to master builder Larry Larson from
Larson Race Cars, who was able to pull away from helping out Mike Moran just long enough to fabricate a really sweet looking 25.5 cage into the CJ.
As I’m sure you can tell from the photos, the cage shown isn’t just all metal. That’s because the team sent the car over to Ken Billings at
Liquid and Powder Coat Finishes to give this cage a really smooth finish that will protect it as well so it will last for seasons to come.
Larry also had his hand in a few other things as well. They decided to swap out the factory 3-link bars and install some adjustable rod end so the team could really dial in the set up the way they want.
Here is a shot of the bottom with that big meaty slick just behind it.
They also added some subframe connectors that are integrated into the stock frame rails in about the most perfect way we’ve ever seen. Check out those welds, if we didn’t know any better, we would have guessed that those we there right from the factory!
This is the completed rear suspension with the rearend installed. The finish work on this car is unbelievable.
We’ll post more info on this car as it becomes available - with a cage like this we can only dream of what the plans for the powertrain are.
