2010 Mustang GT Questions
I'm looking to "replace" a 1994 B4C Camaro with a new ride, and the new Camaro just doesn't quite do it for me. Not to mention, my '94 has become a blistering headache with all of its issues. Getting rid of it isn't an option, as I just had a real nice motor built for it less than two years ago, and with all the money I have tied up in it, I'd be taking a bath. It's just time to push the car into the back of the garage and forget about it for a while...

Anway, I just took out a '10 Mustang GT today...WOW, what a car! This car is a prime example why Ford didn't need a bail-out! I can't say enough good things about it. I could go on and on, but I'll spare all of you.

I was real impressed with everything about the new 2010 GT, but unfortunately due to traffic, I didn't get a chance to "see what she had." Well, I have a few questions. I've already made up my mind, regardless, that I'm getting a '10 GT, but I don't like surprises.

1. Has anyone had their BONE STOCK '10 GT to the track, and if so, what did it run? What did it weigh?

2. What is the average curb weight of a '10 GT?

3. Does anyone have the 3.73 gear option, and if so, how do you like it compared with the stock 3.31s?

4. 315 hp is probably not going to be enough at the end of the day, so I'm considering the Roush supercharger due to it being covered under Ford's 3yr/36k warranty. It's rated at 435 hp. Does anyone here have that setup? If so, can you give me a brief review?

5. What are most of these '10 GTs dynoing in stock trim?

6. What did you pay for it?

Any help would be great. I'm pretty much settled on the standard GT (less weight) and getting the Roush supercharger upgrade. I'm not real interested in all the bells and whistles...just the car and some extra power.

One more question. Can anyone comment on whether the driverseat in the STANDARD GT is a power seat, and if not, can the height of the seat be adjusted? I prefer to sit low in a car.

Thanks!

These cars vary heavily based on the driver, but for a good driver, mid/low 13s.

2. What is the average curb weight of a '10 GT?

Depends on the driver and options obviously, but about 3,500 lbs.

3. Does anyone have the 3.73 gear option, and if so, how do you like it compared with the stock 3.31s?

The 2010 is about the same as the previous years power wise, so the gear upgrade is well proven. Acceleration is quicker, no doubt, with 3.73s.

315 hp is probably not going to be enough at the end of the day, so I'm considering the Roush supercharger due to it being covered under Ford's 3yr/36k warranty. It's rated at 435 hp. Does anyone here have that setup? If so, can you give me a brief review?

You can't go wrong with any of the commonly available supercharger products. Personally, I've installed a Vortech on an S197 and it was a nice, clean install. Roush, Magnacharger and others all provide good options. You can also go Turbo - I'm not sure if anyone is making a 2010-spec kit yet but I know Hellion is planning on releasing one soon.

5. What are most of these '10 GTs dynoing in stock trim?

I've seen a range, but mid 280s is common.

Thanks for the help! Are the 4.6L engines reliable without any internal modifications with a supercharger putting out about 5 lbs of boost like the Roush units?

Well, maybe it's just taken me this long to see the light...

I've been a die-hard Camaro fan for years, and I wouldn't have ever even given a Mustang a look until I saw that new attrocity that GM bestowed upon us Camaro-faithful as a...Camaro.

Ok, I really liked the '05 Mustang when they were released, but after sitting in one, I was just really turned off by the cheap feel and materials of the interior, but maybe that didn't really stop me...

When I bought my '05 STi, there sat a gorgeous new maroon '05 GT, which I came very close to taking home instead, but given that we do get snow here in WV and I live sort of on a twisty back road, common sense has to prevail over "want."

I've always been close-minded to the Mustang, but I am really glad that I saw a '05-'09 Roush 427R at the grocery store the other day, because I took a look at it and said, "I've seen a lot of real nice '05-'09 Stangs, and I think I owe it to myself to take a 2010 for a spin!" Not to mention, with the Camaro f-ing up on me, it was just further justification to hit the dealership and take a ride in a 2010 Stang.

Pardon my previous stupidity, folks, for I knew not what I was missing. Ironic that I really love the car I used to love to hate. Stupid me...
