Making our way through this year’s SEMA Show, we stopped by Roush Performance‘s booth — located outside the Las Vegas Convention Center near the Ford Out Front display. Roush Performance is well-known for building both several different high-performance Ford vehicles, which are designed to be fast and reliable.

That premise has allowed Roush Performance to venture onto new products, and even new vehicles.

  • Brembo brake kit
  • Vossen forged 20-inch VPS-308 wheels
  • Pirelli PZero tires
  • Dynamikillusion LED headlights
  • Roush Performance premium leather seats
  • Roush turbocharger upgrade to total output 511 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque
We spoke with Roush’s Gary Jurick about the vehicles on display, and what we can expect in the future from the company. Jurick informed us that Roush Performance has entered the EcoBoost Mustang market for the 2016 model year. This is a first for the company, as Roush Performance had previously always worked with supercharged applications. While it does offer the RS1 EcoBoost Mustang, it has not offered any performance upgrades outside of the axle-back exhaust for this platform.

Jurick says that Roush is currently developing a turbo upgrade kit and is in the process of choosing a reliable turbocharger for the turbocharger-upgrade package. Jurick also says Roush is currently offering a Power Pack for the EcoBoost. “The power package that is now available includes a Roush Performance cold-air-intake system and a Roush Performance calibration tune,” he said. “It’s very easy to install, and should easily add 80 lb-ft of torque in the low-to-mid range of the curve. The power comes on in a very linear way, which in our experience, makes it loads of fun to drive.”

Jurick says that Roush is targeting even higher output numbers with the turbo kit in development now, and we suspect that engineers are targeting the 500 horsepower range, similar to the SEMA prototype the company had on display in its booth.

Roush-103GRRoush Performance also had the company’s latest iteration of the ’15-’16 Roush F-150. The Phase 1 F-150 combines the factory 5.0-liter V8 with a Roush Performance styling package, a version is also available with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Later this year, or early in 2016, a supercharger package will be an option on the F-150 boosting output to 600 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque. The Phase 2 package however, will up the ante with a staggering 650 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. Jurick comments that the supercharged version of the F-150 will be available in the first quarter of 2016.

Jurick also informed us that Roush Performance has created a partnership with Indmar Marine Engines to create a Roush package for the 6.2-liter V8 marine engine, which is the same engine from the previous generation Raptor. Jurick explains, “The package is capable of 560 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque. The engine package has been in the marine engine market for about a year now and it has taken the industry by storm since it’s release, winning two innovation awards. The boat the engine was installed in took the Pro Wake Tour this year.”

Roush Performance worked closely with Supra Boats and Indmar Marine Engines to create the Roush supercharged Raptor engine-powered boat at the display. Roush Performance plans to only make 25 of the SVT Raptor-powered boats, which are being shipped to dealerships now.

Roush Performance's halo car - the Stage 3 Roush Mustang

Just recently, Roush Performance announced that its Phase 1 kit would be getting an upgrade — pushing the Roush supercharger output from 627 horsepower, to 670 horsepower. The calibration upgrade is provided by Roush, and is available to anyone who purchased the early version of the kit as well. There is no charge for the calibration. “All they have to do is go to an authorized Roush dealer and have the upgraded calibration loaded to the car,” Jurick says.

Roush-113GRWith only months away from the company’s first quarter, Jurick comments that Roush Performance plans to release a Phase 2 package for the 5.0-liter Mustang, bringing the car to 727 horsepower. We asked Jurick what the new package entails. “The phase 2 package is about simplicity. It’s an upgraded calibration, an upgraded supercharger pulley, and an upgrade for the fuel pump,” he said. “We upgraded the fuel pump to ensure the car’s fuel requirements are met safely. Like previous Phase 2 packages, it’s very easy to upgrade.”

Keep up-to-date with us at this year’s SEMA Show as we continue to bring you high-performance vehicles and new products. For more information on packages Roush Performance offers, check out Roush’s website for more details.
