The newest addition to Hurst’s Billet/Plus line of manual transmission shifters is this upcoming piece for the 2011 Mustang. Like Hurst’s other Billet/Plus shifters, the ’11 Mustang stick utilizes CNC-machined 6061 T-6 billet aluminum and heat-treated billet steel construction, not castings.
In addition to the traits shared with the rest of the Billet/Plus family, the 2011 Mustang shifter also addresses a common complaint in these cars – namely, the balky factory push-down reverse lock-out release. The shifter fits factory consoles and shift boots with no modifications, and reduces shift throw by 37% for faster, more accurate gear changes. A spherical pivot bearing makes for smooth operation and durability over time, and the titanium-look anodized finish and classic white shift knob give it timeless style.
Hurst says they’re putting the final touches on production models, and you can look for these new shifters to be available to the general public at the beginning of the year.
