PRI 2010: Mickey Thompsons’ 18-20 Inch ET Street Radial II Tires

DOT approved Drag Radials have long been a hot item for street and strip performance enthusiasts looking for a tire that not only performs on track nights, but handles and drives well on the way to work. But in my cases, putting a set on your car requires an aftermarket wheel in order to fit many of the tires on the market.

Many of the late model muscle cars being produced today, including the Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro are outfitted with large 18-20″ wheels from the factory, making compatibility with many Drag Radial tires an issue. Mickey Thompson, always at the forefront of tire technology and ingenuity has remedied that situation with the release of three newly sized ET Street Radial II tires.

These new street legal tires will fit any new car that sports up to 20″ OEM wheels such as the Dodge Challenger wheel pictured, and is the very same compound and design incorporated into the rest of the ET Street Radial II tire lineup that feature a polyester ply, steel belted and tubeless design for strength and durability. The ET Street Radial II is a similar take on the ET Street Radial, albeit with an extra set of grooves in the tire surface for added road grip and handling. Mickey Thompson will produce these in 18″, 19″, and 20″ varieties, with the 18″ currently available while the two larger versions are slated for released in the spring of 2011.
